Cycle for Life - Ride for Dementia (Dr John Archibald)

The BRC is one of a group of Centre and Institutes at Dalhousie and Dr. John Archibald is the Director of CGEB (Centre for Comparative Genomics and Evolutionary Bioinformatics). Dr Archibald is also a professor and research scientist at Dalhousie. Although his research is not connected to dementia, he has taken a personal interest in Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

Outside of the lab, he is an avid cyclist who enjoys the challenge of covering long distances. Fund raising is a challenge and recently Dr. Archibald decided to use that love of cycling to raise funds for dementia research - specifically supporting Alzheimer Society of NS (ASNS) and Brain Tissue Bank via the Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation (DMRF).

His plan was to complete a solo, pandemic-friendly, dementia fundraising and awareness ride around the perimeter of Nova Scotia. Approximately 2,400 kilometers and he planned to cover it in 7 days at the beginning of July.

Did he do it? Yes he did, in 9 days. And he blogged about it. Check out the photos, videos and posts about this adventure at Cycle of Life – Ride for dementia here. And yes you can still donate to the cause here
