Publication news: Friedman Lab

Parker et al. show that susceptibility to concussion is linked to blood–brain barrier dysfunction (BBBD) and neuroinflammation. Pharmacological treatment of BBBD-induced inflammation improves neurological outcomes in a rodent model of TBI.

The article, titled “Concussion susceptibility is mediated by spreading depolarization-induced neurovascular dysfunction”, lists authors from the Freidman Lab, (Halifax), Kaufer Lab (UC Berkeley) and Dalhousie Medical School.

The BRC is delighted to see so many BRC trainees listed on this paper and commends the collaboration and great work taking place.

The article is published in the June issue of BRAIN and can by found via this link: https://doi.org/10.1093/brain/awab450
